Miss Polly had a...

It's been a super busy week and a half! I'm in the process of designing some new T-shirts which has been a bit arduous since I've also just started a new job and getting ready for the Subiaco Craft Fair.
I met up with Aussie Patches artist Ali J who bought one of my cushion dolls at the Pica Car Boot Sale for Artists back in September. I was a bit rushed and well ..stupid and didn't put any of my contact details on our bags that day and she had to hunt me down through the organisers of the event to purchase another doll. Which she did that day we met up for a coffee :)

It was great sharing ideas and learning from someone who is getting quite a big name in the art world.
The Graphic Design students at TAFE also have a Skate Deck exhibition on at the moment that was awesome to go check out. I have a couple of friends who have some pieces on show and it was all very impressive seeing art that isn't limited to standard paper and canvas.
I guess that's why I like incorporating art into clothing, jewellery and toys :)
Speaking of toys here's a few more of my cushion dolls that I finished!

Blue Screen of Death

I can paint a finished work in under 45 minutes that I think looks great, but ask me to do anything digital and I'll some how manage to set the keyboard on fire at first touch.

I haven't studied art since I was in high school and I'm a very traditional sort of artist. To be honest I spent more time playing games on the computer than actually learning how to use it.

Most of my skills are self taught so when it came to designing a logo for my label I was thrilled to be able to hand the job over to my friend Ryan Holmes who is an awesome emerging graphic designer. He created a logo for me in mere seconds. Although what I wanted was quite simple, it scares me to consider what people can achieve digitally now a days.

These are a couple of the logos he designed for me! I wanted something that depicted a brown paper crown with regal lettering. He also made a few others in different (more readable) fonts as well with a combination of different crowns.

Sifting through the trash...

Fremantle Op shops are such treasure troves! I absolutely adore them!

Of course it doesn't help that I'm such a hoarder of bits and pieces. Every time I pick something up my little brain starts to tick with ideas (not all of them good but it's the thought that counts right?)

Mind you I have so many things to finish that I really shouldn't be trying to come up with new projects. I fear I'm going to become like some little old lady with a thousand tapestries all left half finished, a thousand half told stories with no ending... all titled 'Laziness'. How depressing.

Hopefully I'll have some pics of finished stuff to show you by the end of the week! *fingers crossed and pray the gods of procrastination keep their distance*

Fin.

These are soo sexy! They turned out better than I thought!

Resin Dogs

I made my first attempt to mix resin yesterday! The result was a little messy but I'm really impressed with how every thing turned out. My only problem with some of the pieces is to figure out how to drill a hole in them to make them wearable... oh dear :)
