Spray it! don't Say it!

There's a fine line between graffiti and art and one person's art is easily someone else's graffiti.

I used to dabble in a little paste up a few years ago in my juvenile delinquent stage but I only pasted up pictures and always made sure it was easy to wash off if the authorities wanted to do so. I saw this a little while a go on one of my visits to Behind The Monkey in Mt Lawley and saw this on one of the side fences.
There's quite a lot of over spray but it still has the same effect as intended. I thought it was hilarious!

I also have a friend who proves that you can still be a graffiti artist and remain on the right side of the law who goes by the name of Kid Zoom. He does a lot of work that is not only approved but also paid for, every child's dream! He also has a lot of exhibitions all over Australia so keep and eye out for him.

I have ONE more paste up I've been dying to do since I saw the location but I haven't had the time. I'll keep you posted though ;)

Queen of my heart.

For those of you who haven't seen it this is the absolutely friggen gorgeous painting Aunty Evil Did for me:

I LOVE IT! The colours are so bright but it still has a dark essence to it. Can't wait to be able to hang it up in my new studio!
Ps. I like the toffee apple idea best ;)

Rapped about Unwrapped

I applied for a spot at the Unwrapped market for artists on the closing date just mere hours from midnight - therefore 'technically' still beating the deadline. Well at least I had hoped so and luckily enough I received an email saying my application had been received.

I'm not sure when we find out if we're accepted but seeing as this is still only first round offers and the market is not until March I'm not holding on to my hat (mostly because I don't wear hats)

I do hope I get in though, because if it was anything like the PICA (Perth Institute for Contemporary Art) car boot sale for artists it should be all sorts of fun!!!

She's like the wind.

This year is blowing me away!
It's going by so quickly. January is almost gone and I haven't achieved much.

I am looking forward to going to Big Day Out though and seeing Bjork and Arcade Fire!!! then after one day at work and I'm off to Melbourne for a week!!!! My first plane trip and first time out of Western Australia :)

I don't have much planned except to have fun, catch up with friends and soak in the culture. Possibly go down to 696 and see my work hanging up (maybe take photos of my, and Ali J's stuff hanging while I'm there heheh)

So while I've had a very unproductive first month for the year I have to say I'm extremely grateful to Aunty Evil for getting me off my butt to do a couple of paintings... including this one:

PHYSICAL CHALLANGE!!

AuntyEvil and I have set each other a fun art project!

We have to complete a painting for each other that HAS to include 3 items of the challenger's choice. It has to be paint e have 2 weeks to complete it

My challenge was to paint a:

1. geisha girl
2. bathtub
3. dice/die

It's been soooo much fun!!! I've nearly finished it. Just a few more touch ups which I can't do until what I've done has dried.

And in case you're wondering, I've got AuntyEvil painting a:

1. Queen of Hearts (person OR card)
2. apple
3. black cat

Blythe Crikey!

WHOA! this year is starting to flash by already! Time is slipping away faaster than my money on Etsy :)

Trevor bought me an owl necklace off Etsy that came this week and I loooooove it! I also bought some japanese fabric depicting Alice in Wonderland scenes and also one with red riding hood on it. But it's coem to the point where I've had to say OK no more purchases until I sell something!

So now my only real worry is never being able to buy anything because nothing is selling hehe

Oh my last purchase however was on Ebay for a Blythe doll! I think some of these dolls are absolutely gorgeous. I didn't think much of them until I noticed the 'Dolly Did It' cards that were hitting Perth like a storm.

Here are some of the photos I loved.

And this is the one I decided to buy

She's only a petite Blythe and is only about 11cm tall but that's all I wanted :)
