Soy Good!

Last winter a friend of mine taught me how to knit. Since then I've bought maybe a million and one balls of wool with just as many ideas for things to make and not enough time to make them all. No wonder so many old ladies knit.. you're still just trying to catch up on the ideas you had 30 years ago!

So some little tips or info I've picked up along the way:

Wool is made from natural fibres and Yarn is synthetic

Don't stab your balls of wool/yarn because it splits the threads.

The Ply refers to how thick it is although most fashion yarn won't come with the ply written on the label and the general rule of thumb is to double the recommended needle size to find out what the ply is.

Wool/yarn is dyed in 'lots'. The Dye Lot numbers are usually written on the labels. If you want to make sure that yr wool/yarn isn't going to have variance in the colour then make sure all the dye lot numbers match on your balls of wool. Always buy more than you need since finding the same dye lot afterwards is usually a bitch and a half!

I found a gorgeous wool made from Soy the other day too!! Of course my friends did the obvious silly thing and licked it to see if it tasted like soy. It did not. So I bought the pre-licked soy ball and I'm trying to think of something soy themed and cute to turn it into!

Mean while though, I've been knitting some amazing (I know, I'm biased but it's my blog so neeerrr!) snakes out of a European wool called Pettirosso. It's 60% virgin wool, 32% polyamide/nylon and 8% Polyester metallic.

Add some shells, beads, crystals and a few teenagers to model and VOILA!
